Synopsis[]

Antonio's first day as a thief is marked by tears. During an incursion at the mall, his mother is arrested. Some 20 years later, Antonio along with his two inseparable friends, after some minor robberies, take on a post office. Things don't go as planned.

Plot[]

Antonio is a thief who grew up in a family of supermarket shoplifters. On his way to robbing an Italian Post Office with his associates Franco and Tony, he recalls his life twenty years ago, and the Christmas family tradition of stealing toys from UPIM and reselling them. Young Antonio was in love with a friend of his mother's and dreamed of becoming like his cartoon hero, Lupin III. His mother was later arrested for stealing the Lupin III costume he wanted.

The post office robbery does not go according to plan. Antonio, dying on the asphalt, fantasises that he is Lupin III and has just been arrested by Inspector Zenigata. Having lost all purpose in life after catching Lupin, Zenigata threatens committing a murder-suicide. Franco and Tony, reimagined as Jigen and Goemon respectively, break into the police station to save him, but pause at the department of confiscated drugs to smoke a joint. Antonio manages to escape and flees with his girlfriend Prisca, who is reimagined as Fujiko Mine.

In reality, Franco and Tony were killed in the shooting that ended the robbery. In his last moments, Antonio tells a parademic that his name is Lupin. The film ends with Prisca riding into the sunset on her motorcycle in tears.
